After much debate we chose the Gnocchi Sorrentina .....it was a real tough choice because the menu board had some great options. Although I am a lover of all dogs and animals, sometimes extremely large dogs...I've tried Buona Forchetta three times before finally writing a review. Our main server Emiliano introduced himself and looked after us like royalty the whole time we were there.
I would have loved to have some dessert but we were in the middle of our Sunday bike ride.
My Teepoo White Pizza tasted killer good ( I sometimes order pizzas without sauce just to mix things up a bit ).
Buona Forchetta Encinitas, our third location, blends award winning Neapolitan-style pies and Northern Italian upscale entrees in a family-friendly, approachable space. On Sunday my wife's sister & her husband texted us that they would be in the area ( near our home in Solana Beach ) and we could have lunch together at...."That Italian Place". I said to Caroline that I needed to sit and let my lunch settle a little in my tummy before we jumped back on our bikes to ride the 6 miles home.
By the time we parked the car just down the street it was 1pm when we rolled up to the front entrance. Our favorite server Caroline looked after us superbly. My wife loved her well made creamy latte and of course enjoyed the delicious cheesecake. Gee it is a very addictive pizza. My sister-in-law ordered Lasagne, I ordered the Ribeye board special ( medium rare ) and our brother-in-law ordered Rigatoni with Bolognese Sauce and a side of Rapini.
Giuseppe the manager came over and gave us a big hug. When Alex returned we were ready to order our meals. After resting for a few minutes and having a lovely chat with the young couple ( Ben & Brittanie ) at the next table we decided it was dessert time. The servers are also very sweet which makes it the best atmosphereThis review is based food-wise only on pizza, because it's so good we can't get past how good it is to ever order anything else.
While we were chatting over lunch our brother-in-law and his wife ordered a couple of take-out pasta dishes for home. The desserts here are as good as it gets. Everyone loved their meals.....our Lasagne was rich & meaty just as Giuseppe the manager described. So there you go.....great food, friendly service & a lovely space to enjoy it. All Buona Forchetta outposts (Encinitas, South Park and Liberty Station) are open for your pizza cravings. We chose the Italian Strawberry Cheesecake with Strawberries because we love it. They had really good yelp reviews so I stopped by. My coffee tasted very rich and flavorsome as usual and before we knew it our huge Calzone was on our table.
There pizza is quick fired in an over and has a super thin bottom crust, I don't think it would hold up very well if delivered. Our Prosciutto Fig Appetizer tasted amazing ! I'm dreaming of coming back here. We made it to Leucadia before turning around a few minutes before midday to beat the afternoon heat.
When Alex came back with my ice cold beer we chose an Alessandro Gourmet Pizza ( my wife's fav ) & the Ravioli ( Prosciutto, Artichokes & Peas ) from the Specials Board. Our meals arrived within a few minutes and course looked spectacular.....real plates, real cutlery but still grated Parmigiano in little plastic to go containers ( due to social distancing issues I'm sure ).
I phoned on Monday to make a reservation as required and snapped up the 5.45pm slot which Ivan offered. And of course I added some chili flakes to my half of the fabulous looking pizza. The pasta tasted so perfect and the sauce just a tad spicy. The pizza was exactly as we used to at Buona Forchetta restaurants....a little crusty around the edge and soft near the center with that beautiful Italian flavor. LOCATION. Amazingly we were shown to a cosy table inside within 5 minutes......and the restaurant was completely packed out.
My wife and I had dinner here last night at this newly opened Italian restaurant. Giuseppe went to retrieve our dinner order and I left a tip in the bin for the hard working kitchen staff.
We said our goodbyes to our server Caroline, Sydney the hostess and of course Giuseppe the manager. Pretty difficult to...The line certainly does imply that a great dining experience awaits.
Last Friday we had a dinner reservation here at 6.15pm...you need to call and reserve a table at this point. Ok I said let's do it ! Shortly he returned with complimentary fresh bread and marinated Lentils. By the time we did a couple of loops on the 101 to find a parking spot we checked in with the hostess around 6.10pm. Giuseppe the manager dropped off a couple of tall glasses of bubbly Prosecco to us and had a quick chat.....he was wanted in a million places because he orchestrates this restaurant like a symphony conductor. We ate everything in front of us. No delivery fee on your first order. I decided on the Italian Cheesecake, my wife's sister ordered some Strawberry Gelato and our brother-in-law went with the Cannoli as long as it was the real deal from Sicily. The current staff is very attentive and hard…""Holy f. So, let me preface this review with a little honesty--this was my first taco back home in SD after having spent nearly 6 months in Canada, land of BS tacos (with one exception). We are so happy that this exceptional restaurant is open for dining inside again...albeit with a stack of precautions. My wife ordered a hot latte and a serve of Cream Brûlée while I couldn't resist our server Caroline's suggestion of home made Pistachio Cake....made by the owner's Mom no less.
Alex came back to see what else we wanted...our brother-in-law ordered Burrata Caprese for starters and we decided on 3 Proseccos ( my wife doesn't drink alcohol ).
Arriving here after 6pm is always a big risk because they got so busy.
Our brother-in-law chose the Orecchiette Bolognese. The food was excellent!
Incredibly our pasta dish and our pizza were on our table within 5 minutes. Alex brought some complimentary Artisan Bread out to us while we waited for our dinner to arrive. My wife and I shared everything straight down the middle.
They were open for dine-in too, so will come in again to check it out.I came to this restaurant on a weekday evening with my mom. For great tasting pizza, pasta and the BEST SERVICE anywhere this restaurant is hard to beat !IT'S LIKE FAMILY !
