There really isn't a good way to put that into a movie.That's what I'm discovering watching this, that that reading experience allows me to understand. It's a movie that's unapologetic and doesn't give a shit if you really understand it. The extended version has some stuff added back in that will mostly only be interesting if you've already seen the theatrical version or read the book, but the effects are unfinished.

David Lynch's Dune (1984) is one of my favourite films of all time. And the Baron scenes are still fucking terrifying.It was basically a midnight movie when the midnight movie scene was dead so there wasn't an audience for it at the time of its release.The midnight movie scene was really alive when Dune came out, considering that Eraserhead built a lot of its success from being a midnight movie and that other movies like Evil Dead and Pink Flamingos became successful right after they came out.The big problem was, it was hard to label it a midnight movie because it was pretty much promoted as the next Star Wars.Damn right. David Lynch prefers the theatrical cut and took his name off the extended version.I'm not sure which one I watched before or which one I'm watching now.I remember how I didn't like seeing Dune through the David Lynch ugly & disturbing filter, though I understand that Frank Herbert did. I'm watching it for the second time and first since reading the first book (which I really, really dug).It may not be the feat he or anyone else envisioned but I don't find it unwatchable or one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It takes a bit of adjusting, but once you get used to it, it's pretty enjoyable.We got a hot tub that is criminally overheated in the winter and it is gloriousThe books were so good and so detailed, that it's nearly impossible to put to film. Im so happy I live in thede times where we got great special effects.Just tuned in. Wait for the cat.I still love the film, despite all weird things, including the rain.I have to agree, I still love the film with all its faults, even the rain.My favorite part is little Alia at the end. The strangeness of the movie only supports that we are witnessing alien events. julie cox as irulan was such a strong character in the new mini series.Yes the intro is nice and i really like how they show the waters of calladan in the beginningI liked that shield battle. I really like that effect, it was a very original approach and I imagine was difficult to achieve at the time.I think it is shame if a visual effect takes one out of the film. You really need to have read the book or know the 'rules' involved in the Dune universe for the movie to make sense.I've never read the books and thought the movie was pretty straight forward.No.
