I just assumed she would give you the rose if you didn't ask for it either way. Honestly, I'm stunned you can leave her with the rose. Also by screwing over Gaunter, I fear you can make yourself a dangerous enemy, and, dare I say, I would rather have the whole of Wild Hunt on my tail than have ever fucked with Gaunter, and perhaps Geralt would feel the same. I'm talking more in context of what is and has been happening in the game, and yea, only reason Geralt would save Olgierd is for Iris. Thing is Master Mirror definitely saw that his passionate nature was basically what made Olgierd himself and that's why he took just that from him, turning his heart to stone.
Yes this was stated. I just assumed she would give you the rose if you didn't ask for it either way. If Geralt did save Olgierd, it would be him doing it for Iris. Canonically, I don't see why Geralt would risk his life fighting Satan for Olgierd, there was just no incentive. Before going to the professor in the Oxenfurt accademy, I would have let Olgierd to be killed by the Man of the Glass, but that scene convinced me to try to defeat him. Because judging from the evidence collected I am really suspect that Olgierd is a person worth Geralt "playing" the hero for the end and risking his own soul / well being. Unfortunately the life of Vlodmir is forfeit as a result. The main reason I helped him was that I disliked O'Dim even more than Olgierd. the kind of guy I think Geralt wouldn't have a problem killing, but I think he might (as you say) save Olgierd because Iris seemed to love him despite everything. My point is, aside from his love for his wife, there is really no indication that Olgierd had a heart of gold, was some sort of philanthropist or did anything good, and I don't recall any mention of 'heroic' qualities. Geralt does hate being used, and in HoS, both O'Dimm and Olgierd use him for their own needs. You can't really blame Gaunter for doing what he/it does, as someone already had stated, you can't be mad at fire for it being hot. There is no indication that Olgierd will actually change his nature, just become mortal again, but still remain a wandering rascal in all likelihood. The character entry suggests Olgierd always kept the painting: "Her sad eyes stared out at him from that canvas for the rest of his life". I think Gaunter is a psychopath who simply kills for amusement. For the rewards, I still prefer the unique sword (I am a collector and love rare items in rpgs) that Olgierd gave to me which is super cool and I look forward to using it in Blood and Wine DLC.He was poor before the deal, it's why Iris's parents arranged for her bethrodal with prince toad and why he had to make a deal with MM.He is not dead though, atleast i don't think. All rights reserved. Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement”. On the other hand I could say it's Olgierd's own fault, plus he deliberately led Geralt into a trap and is a bastard bandit. But like you mentioned before, pre-stone heart, the only things we really learn about Olgierd's character is he really loves Iris, and was a ruthless but sophisticated and intellectual bandit. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Unlike his companions, however, he was educated, adhered noble code, and loved art. he killed his wifes father and created monsters. Everything he did later on was the result of O'Dimm, be it directly or indirectly.Olgierd was an asshole, and I really didn't like him.But I also hated how smug O'Dimm was. In fact, he does remember that he should - the summoning of the two familiars was an attempt to make up for what he couldn't feel, in fact.So in fact Olgierd didn't really do anything "bad", as far as I am aware of. Stopping him, even for a short time, was worth it.Au contraire, he's the embodiment of evil. Of course, in another sense the whole thing is solely his fault since you probably shouldn't go making pacts with the devil.I also like the idea of living being a punishment for Olgierd. let O'Dim take his soul because he deserved it. About Olgierd/Gauntier it was difficult for me because from the role-playing perspective I wasn't sure Geralt would want to mess with someone powerful as Gauntier while not being really sure who the hell he is.
No matter how you look at it, Olgierd was the one who got Geralt into all of this trouble starting by the toad ''Prince'' curse.
Olgierd we saw in the
She didn't deserve that and the only way to set her free was to "erase her", unfortunately. As Geralt, I try to play his role trying not to give life sentences to people I don’t know unless they hurt me or my dears (like Whoreson Junior) or they show a truly sadism/naughtiness (an being a real danger for peasants like would be a monster). I have a question: anyway to get the venomous viper silver sword without throwing the gauntlet on O Dim at the end?
And, honestly, that's enough to convince me to stop him from doing anything. Most times i let olgierd die bzw. The wife he was so enamored with is beginning to be of no interest to him. He was a malevolent force to humanity. The rules of the last challenge/riddle didn't say he would be destroyed if Geralt manages to win, also the things he is saying in Elder speech which is I personally have always wanted to make the decisions as ''canonical'' as possible - what Geralt would do, and in the end of HoS I would say that letting Gaunter kill him and then ask nothing from him and just leave him be would be what Geralt would choose, imho. I'm repeating myself here, IMO only reason Geralt would save Olgierd is for Iris's sake He tortured people (the professor's story, in particular, turned me against O'Dimm), killed wantonly, and managed to have less respect for human life than Olgierd while being infinitely more dangerous.
Also Olgierd got enough punishment for his stupidity (accidentally being the cause of his brother death, lost his wife, being bankrupt and poor, etc..) and although I agree with you and I don't sympathize with him, in all his weaknesses he still a person who didn't deserve even the death after all the (right) punishments he got. Only reason he's an ass is because he has a heart of stone, once you finally beat O'Dimm it's very satisfying and also to see Olgeird basically realize he's a piece of shit and that he regrets everything is great as well.
