Cross Island Trail: Kent Narrows to Terrapin Nature Park is a 12.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Grasonville, Maryland that features a river and is good for all skill levels. This ride features our gems and shows off the best of Kent Island. The trail is occasionally viewed from MD Rt 50/301 which is the main artery through Kent Island on the way to Maryland and Delaware beaches. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Trails in Kent Island - 2. The original section of the Cross Island Trail, a walking and biking trail on Kent Island, was built in the late 1990s, as part of Queen Anne's County's portion of the American Discovery Trail. The weather was beautiful and we had a nice day but the trail was a bit lacking in terms of view.
From Kent Narrows, the trail crosses Kent Island continues to Terrapin Nature Park. I would not go back again so just 3 stars.Place was like a ghost town saw one other rider, they need to patch spots on the trail and cut the grass and trees back, very flat 12 miles round trip ride, watch out for the hillbillies! which is located on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in the Stevensville region. Trails in wooded areas, near the water and bay and open sun. Water and rest rooms are available and there’s a beach with a great view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
There are 2 gas stations and a carryout pizza shop about 2 miles north of the Matapeake end but I saw nothing along the trail or at the south end.

The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November. There is ample opportunity for bird and animal watching. I loved it! Can’t say what it’s like on the weekends. If you want a fast ride, it’s best to stick to the wide shoulders on the roads. But whether you take a short or long ride, you’ll have water views, ride past farm fields and parks, over wooden bridges, through wetlands before stopping for a great lunch and/or cocktails at one of the crab houses on Kent Narrows overlooking the water where boats constantly sail by using this Chesapeake Bay shortcut.

Kent Island is less than an hour drive from the Capital Beltway, so this would make a nice family day trip. The C&O Canal National Historic Park and Great Allegheny Passage converge in downtown, and access is easy with plentiful services and...This morning, I met a very nice older gentlemen from Florida on the C&O Canal, who was riding from Pittsburgh (via the Great Allegheny Passage to its confluence with the C&O Canal at Cumberland, MD) on his electric bike.
