This town is known for its amazing views and stunning thrills it has to offer. The reason we stayed was the Restaurant on site, only to be notified the night before we left that it was closed for 2 weddings. Social distancing and masks were apparent everywhere, they should though be disinfecting all tables, chairs, loungers as guests come and go....Your room may not be ready until 4, but we arrived by 11 and were told to enjoy the beach or the pool. Yes, guests often enjoy the ocean view available here. Menu & Reservations ... Montauk is 24 mi from Sound View Greenport while East Hampton is 14 mi away. The beach chairs and really cool bar staff had us staying at water's edge til sunset.
There were not adequate umbrellas on the beach near the bar – and the chairs are strewn haphazardly. Its Norman Rockwell charm will conjure memories of blissful childhood summers in the sun, while its recently renovated spaces offer the comforts of modern life. FINAL NOTE The hotel could probably, for what they're charging, upgrade a few things, repair a few bits of the place and still make a killing but they also probably were badly affected by COVID early-on and it was a well-run operation so… no real issues.We stayed in what were probably the base-line rooms and were very happy.Thank you Jessepacker, for taking the time to provide us with your honest feedback regarding your honest trip and I am truly glad to hear that you a positive trip out to Greenport and Sound View. Had I known the hotel was on a main road with cars whizzing by every minute I would have not have chosen to stay here. There's a small drink and snack shack that had strong drinks and everything was fairly clean. It fact it's just some deck chairs around fires near a bar that serves reasonably priced drinks.
The inconvenience was beyond the ....We had a wonderful time and the property is beautiful! Breakfast is to go, included in room rate and sufficient: yogurt w granola, muffins, raisin bread, hard boiled eggs, fruit, tea/coffee/juice. We left our dog with friends but there were a dozen dogs at the hotel. The beach is a little rocky and there were jellyfish but you can't control everything. Booking a room is easy to do, but they do fill up fast because of the popularity of this hotel. Waterfront views, all updated features etc,. Because it was last minute, we were crazy enough to be willing to pay $640 (including tax and resort fees) Ha! See our Reservations page for details. NO ONE informed us - either on the website (since amended), or on my two calls to the hotel, or in an email - that there was construction on the property – and that our suite may be affected. The room is clean and comfortable and the neighbors were friendly. - "Each table has a view of the Sound, is set at least 6 feet from the next table and is lined with a fabric divider created by our artist friends at Quiet Town Home to ensure safety and privacy."
AC is what would normally be a window unit in an apartment installed in the wall, and works fairly well (it was 90°+ outside and we were fine). Increase Contrast. We are now operating at the highest standards of cleanliness and have reset our property to reflect new social-distancing measures including a contact-less experience. MISC The area is lovely, we did paddle-boarding the first day while we waited to check-in, ate lots of delicious food, got breakfasts from local places in the morning and ate on our deck, stayed up and watched the moon over the ocean after dinner, brought our own cooler of drinks and generally were able to avoid other people, feel safe and really had a delightful time exploring the wineries, restaurants and general area.
Is anyone doing room inspections (as is typical for hotel properties) - had our room been inspected by a Housekeeping Supervisor or hotel Manager - I would like to believe they would have minimally ordered the construction lumber off our deck area????
