The people in it should have felt utterly real, instead we get flat characters who are mainly there to serve the visuals.Even worse- in the end, Snyder let's Ozymandias turn into a mustache twirling villain which he's totally not, and yet again misses the point of the story.The crushing reality for Ozymandias' actions was that he wasnt doing what he did to be a "bad guy" instead he made a cold, calculated decision to save the world in a way that sounds horrible but- sadly was going to actually work.It's the ultimate check-mate against the argument of Superherodom, by allowing to so called villain actually be the one to step up and save the world through means that non of the other "heroes" could or would be capable of.Instead, the Watchmen film couldn't help but allow itself to sink to the conventions of a standard superhero film by allowing the bad guy to simply be the bad guy and not drive home the point that the Watchmen themselves were actually the problem, thus making Watchmen the post modern game-changer for comic book that it was.Maybe the movie was just the friends we made along the way?I think it's amazing.
