"For All Mankind" (Apple TV+): Joel Kinnaman stars in this series that explores an alternate universe in which the Soviets won the space race. Usually, I read the first book of a series, then a bunch of other books and then maybe I return to that series at a much later time.To me it sounds like someone who doesn't read a lot of translated works and is spoiled by the fact that a lot of mainstream fantasy popularity is English centric. If I'm reading something that was written in another language first, I tend to be really forgiving of awkwardness in certain respects.I enjoyed the two books of short stories (in English, one official and one fan translated) but the level of pirouetting was way to high.I kinda liked the 90s badass vibe, and it felt to me less like ripping off other fairy tales and more like they had a common source.I did lose momentum and stop after a few of the novels, I'll probably never finish them and will just read summaries of the rest. Funnily enough before reading the books I informed myself about the different translations (as you can see I also can read english and I also have limited knowledge of the polish language) and I heard that the german translation is way better than the english one. It is the perfect kind of show to watch as you recover from the holidays and a stressful year, which might explain why it made Netflix's projected list of So if you've yet to have the pleasure, toss a coin to your Netflix queues, sit back and enjoy "Witcher." One example of it is the Sleeping King story I know for a certain that at least Poles, Czechs, Hungarians and germans have a version of it. There are no bigger implications to its story.
So there might be that.I read the two short stories books after the novels and for me they kinda were just stories out of the past of characters I already know, which is the reason I might have a different perception about them, but I think of them more like they are Sapkowski's version of the Grimm's fairy tales. Maybe it was just an awful translation but the book reads like it was written by a 15 year old.

"Watchmen" (HBO): Regina King plays a masked detective in Tulsa, Oklahoma, battling a white supremicist group that has turned on the police. "See" (Apple TV+): Jason Momoa plays a father whose children can see in a world where a virus has killed a large number of people while leaving most survivors and their descendents blind. Let friends in your social network know what you are reading aboutNetflix's Henry Cavill fantasy "The Witcher" is the rare show that's so bad it's not only good, it's actually wonderful.A link has been sent to your friend's email address. The English translation seems to be by far the worst.Would you say the language is particularly difficult? They actually took stories from everywhere and just changed them and pretty much lied about their origin at times too to make them German or seem they origin from Germanic countries.I just listened to the audio book of the last wish.
"Altered Carbon" (Netflix): A convicted criminal (Joel Kinnaman) is awakened in a new body with a storage device filled with his past memories and tasked with finding a rich man's murderer. The prose is repetitive and boring, the fight scenes are overworked (seriously how many times does Geralt need to I'd been told the stories delved into weird Slavic mythology but they just seemed to riff off classic Grimm's fairy tales (Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, etc.). I read them in german and I loved them - and especially their writing style. But – and hear us out on this one – "Witcher" is actually riotously fun and "Witcher" is not a "hate-watch" like HBO's infamously angering "The Newsroom." Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts "Westworld" (HBO): Rich guests can live out their Wild West fantasies in a theme park without consequences while interacting with programmable "hosts," including one played by Evan Rachel Wood. Check out watch coming up to Netflix in January 2020! "Stranger Things" (Netflix): Noah Schnapp, FInn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin try to find their missing friend, whose disappearance may be connected to a portal that was accidentally created by scientists to another dimension. And then, of course, there's the song. The reason "Witcher" rides so high on its inanity is that it's completely in on the joke. "Witcher" also uses Cavill to great effect. In fact, English was probably the worst.Agreed. I would not say it was a waste of time to listen to.My experience with audiobooks leads me to believe that listening to a book dramatically changes your opinion of said book.Indeed.
