The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Portions of the trail system remain closed. Laurel almost blooming lots of very tall tulip poplars. Beautiful windy path up and around a little valley, around the marsh, and across the beach.
The trail was pretty easy meandering through the woods and sometimes getting close enough to the marsh to take a peak at it. We only saw a family with small kids while hiking and two girls walking their dog on a Saturday so it’s pretty serene and quite.
7 yo and 64 yo loved it!Well marked trail with nice views that my 10 year old son enjoyed! And the final beach at the end was super cool.

We started from the connector trail on Stoney Point Rd. Beaver Marsh Trail (Orange Trail) is a 2.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near North East, Maryland that features a lake and is rated as moderate.

The trail then opens up for a short time onto a beach along the Chesapeake Bay before entering the forest.This trail is located within Elk Neck State Park. The trail is a bit up/down and narrow at times so I could see this as being more moderate in the warmer months when things are overgrown. Gorgeous scenery.
Would Definitely be a fun & challenging biking trail.
You do get to see a lot of mountain laurel and if you pay attention and look closely you can see a very large beaver dam.
Elk Neck State Park Welcome to Elk Neck State Park! It was very peaceful and my dog loved it. !Nice trail meandering through beautiful mountain laurel and peaks you out at river viewsTrail was easy to find, had a bit of trouble figuring out how to cross the marsh / beach but thankfully others have laid boards down. The trail head begins in the forest and then moves down close to the pond and circles around it. Nice length and variety. Our dog sprinted back and forth when we got there :)This hike was a nice walk around a marsh.

Took the dogs in the river. We saw a few of the campground spaces while we were hiking. Beaver Marsh Loop: 2 Miles A hike around the marsh provides a great opportunity to see wildlife. Maps indicating open trails or portions of trails are posted at all trail heads, bulletin boards and the link below. The mountain laurel flowers were in full bloom which added to the lush beautifulness of the trail. The trail meanders through the forest, first passing a few viewpoint platforms and then turning left away from the marsh. Oh and don’t forget your bug spray!! Some trails or park services may be closed this weekend so check with local authorities before heading out. The trail ends at a connector path from the southern parking lot. From the cliffs of Turkey Point to the wetlands of Beaver Marsh, hikers of all abilities will find an adventure.Portions of the trail system remain closed. Passing the cove about half way through the hike looks like it could be tricky at high tide (lots of vines/growth), although luckily wasn’t a problem for us. Nice views of the marsh from a couple of benches strategically placed. The trail turns left, and you'll pass several connector trails that would take you to the Beaver Marsh Loop. The park classifies this as a difficult trail but I'd consider it an easy side of moderate.
Beavers have an active lodge in the middle of the marsh.
Cove has lots of seaweed, so not able to swim.This trail was definitely worth my random excursion I decided to take the third weekend in May. These trails are not ideal for beginners or anyone who may be a bit timid around wildlife. These tall forests support squirrels, deer and eagles. Pretty mucky but likely passableThere were a good many downed trees on this trail, you have to crawl under a couple and climb over a couple. Instructions will be provided to the Elk River Campground starting location. We didn’t see any beavers but lots of cool looking uprooted trees. Elk Neck State Park boasts designated trails that vary in skill level from easy to difficult.
About a third of the way along, you reach the far end of the marsh. Lots of big fallen trees too.Great trail and very well marked. Hikers are also well catered for with easy access to the four-mile Beaver Marsh Trail and the three-mile White Banks Trail, both of which offer challenging treks through the woods and marshlands of the park. The trail was very well marked.
