Lectures

Acting for Participation

In this lecture, co-presented by Regine Vital and Caro Murphy, we cover a 4-part framework for acting for participation in interactive theatre or playable theatre works including; the Game Matrix, the Self, the Relationship Matrix, and the Orchestrator. We then give useful definitions, exercises, and further segment the mental model into diegetic (Mechanical, Presence, Monitor) and non-diegetic (Monitor, Orchestrator) categories that explain this unique type of acting.

Layered Experience Design

This lecture covers the critical elements of creating an engaging immersive experience. Learn how the elements of aesthetic, interaction, story, and emotion work together to make a framework for successful audience engagement.

Business Development & Marketing

This presentation was developed for the MIT Playlabs Accelerator program, and is perfect for entrepreneurs and startups seeking advice about how to get started creating a go-to-market strategy and marketing plan.

Testimonials

Recommendation, Caroline Murphy

I have worked with Caro on special projects in our tenure as members of MavenMinds, the networking organization for women and nonbinary individuals who own and seek to grow their own businesses.
I would hire or team with Caro in a nanosecond. (Is that the shortest measure of time there is? Caro probably knows.)
Caro is one of the most universally valued members of the group. They routinely are called on for their business acumen and astute emotional IQ. Every member considers Caro a sought-after source of counsel. The fact that they are a teacher is very clear in the way Caro conveys information and supports discourse.
Caro jumped in to help me when, as content chair, I sought assistance in ensuring organizational site language was gender neutral. In fact they have informed all of us on this important matter in a way that’s digestible and practical. Caro jumped right in and provided really thoughtful insights and suggestions. I was so impacted that I sought them out to help the businesses I work with be informed in the same way.
Caro is a confident leader who knows how to hold the attention of a room, galvanize action, and nurture consensus. I have worked with a host of high level strategists in my 20+ year tenure at businesses and agencies, and Caro would be my first go-to when it comes to building a team on a challenging project, critical client, or complex issue.

Sincerely,
Rachel Solomon
