I recommend doing at least a short hike on the dunes and then hanging out at the beach.Extending from the Miller section of Gary to the West and to the outskirts of Michigan City to the East encompassing most of the southern lake shore of Lake Michigan. We picked this location because it was dog friendly. Well worth a visit to see impressive dunes and sandy beaches crammed in between the steel mills of Gary, Indiana. We really enjoyed the beach.
